About Me

I live in Chicago with my partner, two kids, and two cats. I grew up in New Jersey with two public school teacher parents and a sister who sings and teaches as well.

I am the program director of the Writer's Studio program at the Graham School of Continuing Liberal and Professional Studies at the University of Chicago. I hold an MA in English from that University, as well as an MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts and a BA in English from Oberlin College.

I have been a member of Congregation Or Chadash here in Chicago for many years, where I have served on the board in various capacities, led services and workshops, given sermons, sang in the choir, and benefitted from being part of a loving, haimish, thinking community.

I mention these ties because they have helped shape how I think -- but, of course, the content of this blog is solely mine, and reflects my opinions only, not those of any institutions or organizations named herein.
